Students from the Mary Lyon Pilot High School wanted to raise awareness on youth stress and suicide. They took a very difficult subject and prepared a thoughtful, moving, fun and engaging stress prevention and suicide awareness program at the Harvard Educational Portal in Allston. The afternoon included youth testimony and a presentation by Samariteens followed with snacks, games, prizes, and art activities for dealing with and releasing stress. This free event educated youth and parents on the risk signs for stress, depression and suicide and to provide possible options for helping a friend, loved one, or themselves. We were honored to have Boston’s Chief of Education, Turahn Dorsey among our guests. The students hope to see this issue addressed more widely in BPS middle and high schools.
Thanks to the Mary Lyon Pilot High School, the Harvard Ed Portal, and the Samaritans for your partnership!
